During a period of emotional turmoil, the right support kept Lauren on a bulletproof track to her final score of 170.

“When I first started my LSAT journey, I definitely underestimated the beast that is this exam. It not only demanded steady academic performance, but also mental and emotional discipline. In my search for the perfect combination of resources, I found Rachel, who seemed to embody absolutely everything I was looking for in a tutor.

Before beginning tutoring sessions with Rachel, I was pretty far along in my studies. At the time, I was scoring within a 152-156 range, but I just needed that one big push that would surge my LSAT potential forward towards my 170 goal. Rachel supplemented my LSAT journey in ways that were interpersonal and impactful, not mechanical and rigid, as I had experienced with a past tutor.

For example, I’m someone who performs best when I’m constantly held accountable and encouraged along the way, and Rachel is the type of tutor who will motivate you to log your daily study commitments and personally call to congratulate you on your accomplishments.

She also demonstrates her mastery of LSAT subject matter, by translating complex material and techniques in a creative and engaging way. I was never short of a thorough explanation of even the most trying LSAT questions.

A huge obstacle for me during this process was remaining consistent in my studying, as I was going through a lot of emotional turmoil at the time. Every step I put forth in furthering my progress felt weighted, and staying on target was a struggle.

One of Rachel’s most substantial traits is that she’s honest and pushes you towards your potential while respecting and acknowledging your boundaries and circumstances. She takes you where you are and pushes you towards where you can be. In my case, she helped me achieve my 170 goal. I started out at a 154 on my diagnostic test and my score increased by 16 points.”

After nearly giving up his law school dreams, Kyle raised his score 12 points after tutoring.

“Despite having decent grades out of my Masters and undergraduate degree, and having written off my law school dreams due to a poor showing in the Logic Games section of the LSAT three years prior, I recently decided to give the test one more shot while working a full-time career, and signed up with Rachel for help.

As a tutor, Rachel takes a compassionate, yet rigorous, approach. She ensured that I could not only thrive on the LSAT, but also enjoy the process of learning the difficult material. She helped me identify those elements, namely Logic Games and conditional logic, that were giving me significant frustration, and took the time to develop a detailed study plan that focused on acquiring foundational knowledge in order to understand the complex language and mental processes necessary to mastering each of these question types.

I could tell immediately that Rachel was a highly experienced tutor, especially when she adapted our one-on-one weekly lessons to fit my preference for visual stimuli, such as diagrams and illustrations, when attempting to master tough concepts—and around my tight schedule of working from 9-5.

By the end of my challenging LSAT journey, I was able to increase my initial LSAT performance to a score I genuinely thought was beyond my ability. I know that Rachel’s careful and consistent assistance as a tutor was essential to my success, and would recommend her to anyone who has the drive to get into the law school of their choice.”

Emma broke through her Reading Comprehension challenges after we carefully tailored her reading strategies.

“When preparing for the LSAT, I studied on my own for some time, but struggled to understand what I was doing wrong and how to improve my score. I was deciding between getting a tutor or taking an LSAT prep course, and ultimately decided on a tutor because I was looking for a more individualized approach.

I was struggling with the Reading Comprehension and Logical Reasoning sections, but I didn’t know why. Rachel was an incredibly helpful tutor with thorough knowledge of the test and unique recommendations for me. We went through questions and passages together, and she would point out what I was missing and how I could fix my mistakes.

She had strategies for how I should read and analyze the Reading Comprehension passages, which were totally individualized to me after she observed my strengths and weaknesses. She was knowledgeable in all of the different kinds of questions on the test and helped me discover which I was struggling with, why, and how to get better. She also put together an extensive study plan for me that took into account my availability and advised me on what I should work on each day.

Each time we met, she observed my progress and helped me find strategies to improve further. Before working with Rachel, my score was stuck; I couldn’t manage to figure out how to increase it on my own. With her guidance, I was able to increase my score more than 10 points, which I was thrilled about. My score jumped from a 163 to a 177. I am so grateful for Rachel’s help. I never would have been able to increase my score this much without her.”

“My score began climbing into the 170s during our sessions together, and my blind review regularly reached into the high 170s. I ended up scoring a perfect 180 on the LSAT. This translates to a +16 point gain from first to last exam.”

— David, + 16 points // 164 to 180 official score

David scored a perfect 180 on the LSAT after breaking through a plateau to jump +16 points.

At the start of my LSAT studying, I was optimistic about Logic Games and Reading Comprehension, but felt increasingly frustrated with my lack of progress in Logical Reasoning. I missed very easy or very hard questions with little pattern; even worse, I couldn’t clearly see why one answer was necessarily better than another. When I did “understand” my mistakes, they seemed to reoccur on my next practice test. I decided to find an LSAT tutor because I wanted a second pair of eyes to help me understand these systematic, seemingly incoherent mistakes.

On the recommendation of a Yale Law School graduate, I reached out to Rachel and we began working on the LSAT together. At the start of our tutoring, my practice scores had stagnated in the mid 160s. She helped me study “smarter” by identifying weak spots that I had missed entirely and instilled the kind of habits that translated into real point gains. Most importantly, Rachel was deeply invested in understanding my learning process to ensure that I achieved true comprehension of the material. She was patient, supportive, and always available by text, call, or email during the week if I hit another wall. She was extremely perceptive, picking up on subtle misunderstandings that I simply could not have done by myself. These characteristics are what set Rachel apart from other tutors: she genuinely cares about each and every one of her students. She will spend hours of her own time outside of class thinking about how to help her students, and try out different pedagogical approaches until her students’ scores improve.

My two months of tutoring with Rachel have paid off enormously. My score began climbing into the 170s during our sessions together, and my blind review regularly reached into the high 170s. I ended up scoring a perfect 180 on the LSAT. This translates to a +16 point gain from first to last exam.

Rachel built my confidence and cognitive abilities to the point where I felt razor sharp on test day. There's no doubt that I couldn’t have gotten my score without Rachel. Any LSAT student would be lucky to have her.

After intensive and customized tutoring, Sophia jumped 30 points to an official score of 179.

"Rachel was the best tutor I could have asked for. When I first started tutoring, I scored a 149. After completing tutoring with Rachel, I scored a 179 on test day.

Rachel was exceptionally patient, understanding, and supportive. She listened to my needs and tailored each lesson to meet those needs. Other tutors would just implement a single general strategy and curriculum. Rachel, on the other hand, introduced a variety of creative methods throughout our sessions. By testing out these methods, I received highly individualized tutoring. Not only did this help to improve my score, but it made tutoring an enjoyable experience.

Rachel’s expertise and unique teaching strategies were essential for scoring as high as I did. I would recommend her to anyone looking for outstanding LSAT tutoring, no matter where they are currently scoring."

Ally, an ADHD student, leapt +19 to an official 179 after I coached her through a score plateau.

“I originally sought out tutoring because I knew that I was working with a decently short timeline, ADHD, and a high ‘goal score.’ I felt as though I needed a tutor in order to stay on schedule and maximize my studying time. Not only did Rachel keep me on a schedule, but her schedule helped me create an organized routine which really helped me– both from an anxiety and focus perspective. I knew what to expect every day from my studies, and each week placed emphasis on areas which ultimately helped me to achieve the highest possible score.

What I did not necessarily anticipate when I sought out tutoring was what I consider to be the most beneficial, and unique, aspect of working with Rachel. Once I reached a certain territory/bracket of scores, I began to plateau, as she informed me students often do. At that point in scoring and studying, I think it’s especially difficult to strategize and teach yourself material without a second set of eyes. In order to make the extra–crucial–jump, Rachel created not only highly personalized strategies, but also highly successful ones! Whether recommending supplementary material, introducing new study strategies, or helping me understand complex and nuanced concepts, Rachel’s expertise materialized most in this area of my studies.

My second score jump ended up being as large as my first. Not only did my score increase 19 points by test day, but I also felt as though I had “done all that I could,” for lack of a better phrase. A lot of this had to do with a second unanticipated consequence of tutoring, which was test day prep, outside of the material itself. During my studies I would often find myself panicked on practice tests, or simply in the wrong mindset. Rachel helped minimize anxiety and maximize performance by keeping me in a routine, but also by emphasizing and aiding the sort of test prep that often goes unnoticed: taking care of yourself.

All of this guidance came to fruition on test day, when I remained calm and in my routine, and even ended the test feeling as though I had performed to the best of my abilities. All in all, Rachel went above and beyond my highest hopes and expectations for tutoring. Not only did she help me accomplish the goals I had set for myself at the beginning, but she helped me achieve things I didn’t even know I could.

I could not recommend Rachel more highly, especially for students with specific needs, whether those needs be related to mental health, attention, or working on a specific timeline or with a specific score in mind. One of Rachel’s many strengths is her ability to adapt and personalize her approach, maximizing each student’s success.”

“Hey Rachel! I just wanted to let you know I got a 155 on the LSAT. That was a 10 point jump, so thank you so much for all of your help."

Ryaan, an ADHD student, shot up 17 points after receiving innovative visual instruction.

“Let me start by saying that I’ve struggled a lot in the past with learning through conventional teaching styles. Maybe it’s due to being diagnosed with ADHD or maybe it’s just my personality. Whatever the reason, I grew up believing that I was a slow learner and that it just naturally took me longer to grasp certain concepts.

After meeting Rachel, I came to the realization that the style in which I was taught had a huge impact on my learning process. Her method of tutoring incorporated a lot of visual aids, along with a restructuring of the way I memorized information. That was super helpful in letting me better retain information and thus avoid wasting time by having to relearn certain concepts.

Rachel also had us go over LSAT topics with me in the role of a tutor, which basically forced me to have a solid grasp of what I learned so that I could teach it effectively. She also makes sure to temper her tutoring sessions with a great deal of kindness and patience, which goes a long way in building the confidence of her students.

Speaking from personal experience, it helped a lot to have someone in my corner who believed in my potential when I didn’t. Over the course of our time together I went from scoring 155 on the LSAT to scoring 172.

That’s a change I never thought possible at first, but it was a goal Rachel said I could attain after our first session together. I would highly recommend her as not just a great tutor, but as one of the best teachers I’ve had the privilege of learning from.”

Despite the demands of a challenging full-time career, Michael achieved a 173 and +8 increase.

The LSAT was a true beast for me. It was so very hard. I was sitting at a 165. After working with Rachel for half a year while working full time, I got a 173 on the real thing. I give Rachel a lot of credit for that.

If you’re like me, you take an online LSAT course, read several LSAT prep books, take a bunch of practice tests, then plateau in the low-160s. The LSAT did not come intuitively for me, and as all LSAT takers know, one question may translate to one or maybe even two points. So, if someone can give you a tip to help you get an additional question right, that literally translates to an extra point on the test.

Below are several tips Rachel gave me specifically for what I struggled with:
1. A Necessary Assumption question’s answer may also be a Sufficient Assumption; don’t get confused.
2. For Strengthening questions, Imagine you’re giving a PowerPoint presentation trying to convince your audience of something.
3. Using shapes is a powerful method for attacking certain logic games.
4. Try doing LR questions backwards. For some people (like me), the psychological benefit of doing easier and easier questions as you move along may help.
5. For splitting game boards in LG, split them using rules that form the biggest “blocks”.
6. For some people (like me), diagramming frequently in LR actually slows you down way too much. Rachel pointed that out to me; I never would’ve realized it. I never thought doing away with diagramming would actually increase my speed and accuracy.

I imagine Rachel would give you different tips based on your specific weaknesses. After all, the tips above were provided to me based on my particular weaknesses she observed.

Importantly, the LSAT is already a struggle, and you don’t need a tutor who’s just there to make some money on the side. Rachel is not like that. She shows up eager to help more than anything else.

Thanks a lot Rachel; I owe you one!

Sarah nailed a +5 point increase in 6 weeks, finally landing the 177 score of her dreams.

Rachel is a SUPERSTAR! After several months of self-studying, I plateaued in the low 170s and had no idea how I was going to crack my goal of 175+ with only 6 weeks until test day. I reached out to Rachel after consultations with a few other tutors, all who had expressed the same sentiment: improving ~5 points in the 170s on such a crunched timeline was a tall order. While the candor was appreciated, all I could hear was "you're asking for something impossible, it's not going to happen."

While Rachel similarly outlined the reality of my situation in our first meeting, she was markedly different from other tutors in how quickly she pinpointed the aimlessness of my current studying tactics and emphasized all the ways we could make meaningful changes to my preparation even on such a short timeline. For the first time in months, I had some hope about the LSAT again. In our weekly sessions, we didn't waste any time on the mechanics of the test because Rachel adeptly assessed that I knew what I had to do for each question, I just had to do it precisely how the testmakers wanted. Rachel's expertise made understanding the testmakers' reasoning a far more efficient process than if I were to figure it out my own. She honed in on exactly how I comprehend information and select answers on the test all the while brainstorming personalized ways I could finetune my thinking.

I also cannot rave enough about Rachel's unique tutoring model where she makes herself available for support throughout the week even outside of your session. This was a complete game-changer for me. I felt a new sense of accountability to myself and to my studying goals because I knew that a day I spent ignoring the LSAT was a day I could have spent making tweaks to my process with Rachel's guidance. I also felt so much less alone or confused whenever I hit a difficult set of problems or performed worse than I had hoped on a practice test - I knew there was someone on my team who could help me figure it out. Within 2 weeks of working with Rachel, I hit my first 179 on a practice test and ultimately ended up with a 177 on the real thing!

My LSAT journey was filled with a lot of stagnancy and self-doubt, but what I appreciated most was that Rachel remained confident in my abilities even when I was the most unsure. I only hit 175+ a handful of times before my actual LSAT, and my scores bounced around a lot even the week leading up to test day. The lack of consistency made me unsure that I was actually ready to take the test. However, Rachel never encouraged me to switch test days and never stopped sharing positive affirmations in response to my concerns. I strongly believe her tutoring model and personal commitment to my success made all the difference in the final stages of my preparation.

Even if you're a 170+ scorer, are quickly approaching your test day, or are just unsure if tutoring might help you, it is absolutely still worth connecting with Rachel. I've learned that it really is never too late to make leaps and bounds in your LSAT progress, and my only regret is that I didn't reach out to her sooner!

Stuck in the mid 160s after a year of self-study, Raj scored a 178 after 3 months of tutoring.

Before I started working with Rachel, I had already been studying for close to a year for the LSAT. My practice test scores had plateaued to a level under my desired score, so I began working with Rachel in an attempt to overcome the plateau.

I was impressed with how invested Rachel was in my LSAT success, as she reviewed my past months of studying, and adapted test-taking strategies based on these along with my feedback. She also created a study schedule, which was invaluable in keeping my LSAT prep consistent, something I struggled with before. On top of this, Rachel was available throughout the week to answer any questions I had and sent daily inspirational messages, which were helpful, especially as I got closer to test day.

Prior to working with Rachel, I questioned whether my goal LSAT score was even attainable, but Rachel helped me exceed this score in a few months. I highly recommend Starpath Prep to any student looking at LSAT tutoring.

Grace, an ADHD student, won a full ride to law school after mastering LR & RC for +10 points.

Studying for the LSAT felt overwhelming until I met Rachel. I was struggling with Logical Reasoning and it was frustrating because I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. On our first session, I was impressed by how she identified my strengths and weaknesses that I was not even aware of. She narrowed down my problem areas and helped me understand the logic behind the most complicated question types.

Having ADHD, it was especially difficult to concentrate on Reading Comprehension and I didn’t think that it was possible for me to improve on this section. She created a customized plan that helped me grasp the core concepts and it was fascinating to see how my comprehension skills improved in such a short period of time.

Rachel is innovative, encouraging, and attentive, and I really appreciate how she checked in with my progress daily. After working with her for three months, I felt confident when I took this test and increased my score by ten points! I got a full tuition scholarship to Penn State and I couldn’t have done it without Rachel!

Caroline raised her score 17 points on practice exams after learning new LSAT strategies.

“Rachel is the best tutor that I’ve had in my academic career and was the perfect match for me. Rachel not only checks all the boxes for a great tutor: knowledgeable, motivating, and resourceful, but she goes above and above to make her students feel empowered, supported, and energized.

For starters, she met me where I was. During our first call, she was realistic, upfront, and straight-forward with my score goals, school goals, and “trouble spots.” Logging on each week, I always knew what to expect from her and what she expected from me in return. When working on one of my weaker points, if one of her tried and true strategies did not work, she did not get frustrated and was instead innovative, always offering me additional tools to help me succeed until something worked.

During this challenging time in the world, when Rachel could’ve easily taken time for herself, she continued reaching out, checking in, and working hard for me. It only made me want to do the same in return. Each week, I strived to improve for myself, but also Rachel. Her passion and humility are unmatched, and I would recommend her to any student desiring to make big score jumps in the future.”

*I haven’t heard from Caroline in a while, so unlike the other students listed here, I’m not sure what her official LSAT score was.

Although it was hard for her to start her LSAT journey, Fatima raised her score by +11 points.

“As someone with a learning disability it was really hard for me to begin my LSAT journey. However, when I met Rachel she worked with my needs and got me started on my LSAT journey. With the help of Rachel, I was able to find a study schedule that worked with my needs and was efficient for the LSAT. Rachel was able to effectively communicate and teach me in a way that complemented my learning disability. In addition to putting together an extensive study plan for me, she always managed to find new tools that would help me reach my fullest potential. With her guidance, I was able to increase my score 11 points.”

I helped S., who has an unusual first name, rocket up 22 points after beating test anxiety.

“I just wanted to express what a wonderful tutor Rachel has been. She truly cares about her students and is willing to go the extra mile to support their success. She checked in daily on my progress and was extremely responsive to questions. When the March and April LSAT were canceled, Rachel was kind enough to amend our schedule to continue tutoring through to the May Flex-LSAT.

Rachel taught me new strategies, correctly identified areas of weakness, and allowed me to be reflective upon my own progress. I struggle with test-taking anxiety, and Rachel made sure that we discussed strategies to ameliorate those effects on test day.

I want to make sure to express the many non-numerical aspects of her incredible ability as a tutor. There are certainly a plethora more beyond this list. Any student would be lucky to have her as a tutor!”

— S.W.L., +22 points // 154 to 176 official score

Chris broke through a plateau to an official 170 after just four hours of customized tutoring.

When I first came to Rachel for tutoring, I had been studying for a couple of months and had made good progress. In terms of PTs, I was at a baseline of 166, and had gotten a few PT scores in the low to mid 170s by that point. However, what I lacked was consistency and understanding in some of what I was doing. I often ran out of time on RC and doubted my answers on LR, and that showed in the fluctuations of my scores.

As Rachel knows, I ended up scoring 170 on my first test. There were a few things that Rachel’s tutoring did for me that helped me get there. First, the strategies that we played around with regarding the RC section led me to find something that worked! I think I had hit a plateau in that section with what I was doing up to that point. A fresh set of eyes on some of the more difficult LR questions also did wonders. The visual illustrations were especially useful, I thought (and much more helpful than 7sage explanations...). I also really enjoyed the study plan and "daily accountability" and wish I had something like that the whole time instead of just the last couple of weeks. It probably could have cut my study time in half, to be honest.

So by test day, I was not nervous at all. I thought I would do well, and I attribute a significant part of that to the few tutoring sessions I had with Rachel. It allowed me to approach the test with a level of calmness and confidence that I didn't have the month before. I also haven't scored less than 170 in my last 4 PTs now (taken after the January exam). That consistency and confidence in what I'm doing was and continues to be worth its weight in gold. I feel good about my retake.

If anyone is on the fence about getting a tutor in the last stages of their LSAT studies, I would absolutely point them Rachel's way. I have no doubt that even a few sessions to "course correct" are worthwhile if someone is looking for a boost in points and confidence.

I’ve Failed to Help Increase a Student’s Score Exactly Once

Below, read a considered reflection on my coaching style from that student.

Kathryn’s Thoughts—

Rachel’s dynamic teaching style is responsive to your needs as a student. For me, I needed encouragement and understanding as I dealt with an LSAT problem area that made me very stressed to even think about it. She coached me through the anxiety, building my confidence in my abilities by celebrating my successes and deftly helping me bridge the gaps in my knowledge. With her guidance, I genuinely felt that there was nothing I could not learn.

Perhaps Rachel’s greatest strength as a tutor is her ability to intuitively diagnose her students’ shortcomings. For me, she quickly diagnosed that I faced challenges with Necessary Assumption Logical Reasoning questions, and she asked targeted questions to pinpoint my specific weaknesses.

Within our first session working on this question type, she identified that I was lacking some technical knowledge about how to solve these questions. We made a study plan for me to drill these question types. Within two weeks of learning and applying her strategy, I went from getting almost every question wrong to getting almost every question right.

Rachel is an incredible teacher. While there are many people who have high LSAT scores, there are very few who have her level of mastery combined with a superlative teaching talent and pedagogical framework. Rachel understands the quirks of even the toughest LSAT question, and she is able to meet students half-way to build their understanding.

I attribute Rachel’s comprehensive LSAT knowledge, empathetic approach, and diagnostic skill to my increased testing confidence. To use a sports metaphor, I came to Rachel at the bottom of the 9th inning, hoping for some magic. While my score is the same, my understanding is improved. I truly consider that to be a victory.

While the LSAT is an isolated moment in time, some of the analytical frameworks, which I now understand after Rachel’s tutelage, will benefit me in law school and beyond. I have mentioned her services to a few friends already, and will continue to do so as I come across people planning to take the LSAT.
